Dearest readers,

It’s hard to believe it’s been 2 years since the table was set in this quiet space.

In the midst of the flurry of fall and working on other projects, I forgot that November is GraceTable’s birthday month! In fact, it didn’t even occur to me until one of our host writers made mention of it in our private Facebook group. Sigh.

This month marks the 2 year anniversary of this space. GraceTable is 2! It’s hard for me to believe that 2 years have passed already.

This space really started with one mission–to inspire and encourage us all to love like Jesus loves, to spend ourselves on behalf of others, welcoming them, making space, and giving grace for our neighbors. While I believe that we have done this well, I also fully confess that have much room still to grow. Continually, I pray for you, for us, that we would never stop delving deeper into God’s command to love our neighbor as we love ourselves (Matthew 22:39).

We have settled in here among friends, daily making space for more of you at this table. It feels comfortable and cozy, worn in all the right ways and yet in many ways, this space still feels fresh and new–there are still so many conversations we want to have. We’re still growing up, still adding chairs to this table. Our door is propped perpetually open, and we love it this way. We’re always waiting expectantly for whom or what God plans to send through that door.

In the last two years, He has brought to this table over 68 guest writers (!!), and in the last couple of months, God brought Grace P. Cho through our doors to serve as Managing Editor here at GraceTable. Grace has become a fast friend, and voice of wisdom in all things related to this space. She is literally the answer to two years of praying for God to send someone to assume the role. As I write this, Grace and I are currently working our way through the nearly 100 responses to our open call for writers!

Your love for this space humbles us, and leaves us deeply grateful.

It’s an honor to host you here and steward this space. I am continually astounded at the ways God shows up here in the articles, and in the comments, and how His grace always pours out. I can’t wrote this letter without giving a most grateful nod to the host writers here at GraceTable. The hosts here give out of what they don’t have. Like the widow and her two mites, our writers have very little in their hands, because they LIVE GraceTable in real life, pouring themselves out everywhere, opening their doors and hearts to not only their families, but in their real-life communities, places of work, ministries and in their various circles online. And then they come here to GraceTable, and offer whatever they’ve got. It’s amazing. And it’s a gift. And somehow, God makes it enough. Without the writing team, this space would not exist.

And you, sweet reader, you keep showing up. You keep coming here and loving us well, making space for us and inviting us into your inboxes and homes and we’re better for meeting you here at this table. You inspire and encourage us to keep sharing our imperfect stories of learning to love like Jesus.

Thank you for your grace as we continue to grow. We have big dreams for the days ahead! We look forward to continuing to grow with you. We eagerly await the next project, theme, and conversation and invitation.

To celebrate our birthday, we have a couple of giveaways planned for this month, starting with today’s “Thank you for reading bundle”. We can’t thank you enough for how you have welcomed us over the last 24 months. YOU are a gift, friends.

With deepest gratitude,

Kris (Founder, Executive Editor: GraceTable.org)
